Whether you are giving a sales pitch for your products or just a company presentation for others in your industry, the next time you give that presentation you need to listen as much as you need to speak.

Give it In House

Bill Bartmann's tip # 1 to improve your presentation is to start by testing it out in house. If you have coworkers or even family (if you run a home based business), these folks may be a great help in giving you a way to test your presentation. Present the whole thing to them and then let them point out any areas they didn't understand or think may have been lacking. Don't be offended by their comments. You have asked them to help you and they are going to assist in making your presentation better for the real sales!

Record the Q&A

Bill Bartmann's tip # 2 to improve your presentation is once the presentation is finished to hold a question and answer session the next time you give the presentation and make sure to record it so you can hear what the audience was thinking about at the end of the presentation.

Review the Questions

Bill Bartmann's tip # 3 to improve your presentation is to pay close attention to each question that was asked of you. If someone had to ask you the question, it means it was something they were not able to get the answer to from your presentation. For each question you need to discover whether or not that topic was something that was covered in enough detail in your presentation. It is possible that your potential customer just checked out for a few moments at that point in the presentation and missed the answer. But, it is also possible that you had failed to answer that question in detail in the presentation. If this is the case you need to rework your presentation to include those questions.

Continue in this vein through all of the questions that were asked in the Question and Answer session, incorporating the information that customers needed into your presentation to give at a future time.

Repeat

Bill Bartmann's tip # 4 to improve your presentation is to never think your presentation is done. Every time you give your presentation listen to the questions from the audience. Are they bringing up new things that they were unable to get form your presentation? Times and mentalities change all the time. You need to be open to what new concerns and thoughts need to be addressed by your potential clients and keep adding that information to your presentation.
