Bournemouth is a town in England but recently has been emerged as one of the most visited places in the UK. According to 2001 statistics the population of the city was approximately 163,444. The place was established in 1810 by Lewis Tregonwill. The city experienced a massive growth during the time when railway tracks and stations were established and as a result it was given the status of a town in 1870. The people of Bournemouth are satisfied and happy with their lives; this factor was very much involved when the city was named as the happiest city of United Kingdom.

The exact location of the town is the South West side of the UK. Due to its location the city’s climate is also affected due to this. Bournemouth receives the summer season only for three months which are June, July and August. The temperature mostly rises in July and August and it can rise up to 15 degrees. The coldest months in Bournemouth are January and February. Temperature can vary in between the range of 2 10 degrees. The average rainfall in Bournemouth is approximately 592.6 mm.

Bournemouth itself is very rich city in terms of culture, history, entertainment and recreation. The city has a number of beautiful parks which are well maintained. As the natural greenery is in abundance in the city so naturally most of the parks have also won several awards for being the most beautiful ones.

Economically Bournemouth is considered as a stable economy. The main source of revenue generation is the services sector. Along with services sector, tourism is also one of the major sources. Because of town’s beautiful climate and natural beauty, Bournemouth is a recommended destination for tourists. The city approximately generates £440 million per year through tourism.

One thing which attracts most of the people, whether they are the residents of the town or tourists from any part of the world is the “Bournemouth Eye”. This is basically an air balloon which is tied with a steel cable placed right in the heart of the town. Tourists can ride the balloon up to 500 feet in the air from where they can visualize and clearly see the beautiful city from the top. The balloon lifts up the passengers into the air to give a beautiful view of Bournemouth.

Like all of England sports are also a very important factor. Football and Cricket are the commonly played games in Bournemouth. Bournemouth has its own football team named as “AFC Bournemouth” which currently competes in the second division of English football. The city also has a rugby team which is called “Bournemouth Rugby Club”, and a cricket club called “Bournemouth cricket club” which is one of the biggest clubs in the region. The first team of the club competes in the Southern Cricket League.

A visit to Bournemouth is a must. A British seaside town full of character and definately geared up for tourists and holiday makers alike, well worth a visit at any time of the year.
