There’s nothing better than a bike ride to keep everybody happy on Majorca family holidays. Boasting beautiful coastal countryside, the terrain in Majorca is varied, but there is a bike ride to suit all ages and abilities.

Palma to S’Arenal

This cycle ride is one of the longer ones you will find in Majorca, but also one of the most rewarding. If you’re looking for shorter outings on your Majorca family holidays, there’s no need to tackle all 18 kilometres, as any given section of this bike ride can be just as enjoyable. Start out from the promenade at Paseo Marítimo de Palma, and follow the cycle path all the way to Playa de Palma. Cycle past the stunning 18th Century cathedral, but be sure to stop for a photograph. The bike ride then continues for another five and a half kilometres, before the designated cycle lane ends at El Molinar. At this point, you’ll ride along the beach at Coll d’en Rebassa for a while before heading inland to avoid the power station of San Juan de Dios. On reaching Can Pastilla you will return to the shoreline, enjoying the wonderfully peaceful Playa de Palma cycle path which allows only pedestrians joggers, roller skaters and cyclists. A further five kilometres will find you arriving in Arenal, a beautifully traditional town. Before you get back on your bike, be sure to take a wander around the town, and whet your whistle in one of the charming local restaurants. This bike ride combines culture and coastline for a truly wonderful day out.

Pollenca Bay

The coast line around Pollenca is some of the most stunning that you will see in Majorca. Family holidays should certainly incorporate a visit to this area, in order to make the most of the fabulous beaches and the sensational viewpoints. The bay of Pollenca stretches for 8 kilometres, and is relatively flat and easy ground to cover. If, when you reach the port at the end of those 8 kilometers, you don’t feel quite like you’ve pushed yourselves enough, you may want to go that little bit further until you reach the viewpoint at Formentor. You will be able to gaze out on the clearest and bluest of oceans while you stop to catch your breath. One of Majorca’s most beautiful areas, a bike ride is the perfect way to experience Pollenca.

Cala Millor to Porto Cristo

Another bike ride that covers fairly even terrain, this ride from Cala Millor to Porto Cristo is perfect for Majorca family holidays. With many beaches along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to jump in and take a dip. However, there are also many other exciting places to take the family along the way. Go underground and see the wonders of Majorca’s underworld at the Caves of Drach and the Caves of Ham. Or wait until the end of the ride to stop, at which point you can reward yourselves with a trip to the aquarium at Porto Cristo. With various distractions and detours to take along the way, this is a bike ride on which you’ll never be bored.

There’s nothing more relaxing than lying back on the beach. However, this can get a little tedious for boisterous children on Majorca family holidays. Why not wear them out on any one of these bike rides, giving you the opportunity to make the most of the countryside and the coastline whilst getting a breath of fresh air.
